Product Description of MTL5544 2 Channel Isolation Barrier MTL5544 Repeater Power Supply
The MTL 5544 provides fully floating dc supplies for energising two conventional 2 or 3 wire (4 to 20) mA or ‘smart’ transmitter located in a hazardous area, and repeats the current in other circuits to drive two safe area loads. For smart 2 wire transmitters, the unit allows bi-directional transmission of digital communications signals superimposed on the (4 to 20) mA signal so that the transmitter can be interrogated either from the operator station or by a hand held communicator.

• The MTLx544 provides fully-floating dc supplies for energising two conventional 2-wire or 3-wire 4/20mA or HART transmitters located in a hazardous area, and repeats the current in other circuits to drive two safe-area loads.
• For smart transmitters, the unit allows bi-directional transmission of digital communication signals superimposed on the 4/20mA loop current.
• Alternatively, the MTLx544S acts as a current sink for a safe-area connection rather than driving a current into the load.
• Separately powered current sources, such as 4-wire transmitters,can be connected but will not support HART communication.
